Christian “Yung Lion” Low Hoy
Christian Low Hoy—known to his fans as Yung Lion—is a 20-year-old reggae and dancehall artist whose rich Caribbean heritage and unshakable dedication to his craft have distinguished him as an emerging voice in contemporary roots music. Born in Staten Island and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, he discovered his passion for performance at an early age, captivating family gatherings with soulful renditions of classic reggae and mastering multiple instruments by his early teens. At just ten years old, he shared the stage on an international cruise with established artists—an experience that solidified his commitment to a life in music.
A pivotal moment in his artistic journey was the loss of his cousin Josh, whose memory inspired Yung Lion’s poignant single “Violate,” a tribute that blends vulnerability with social consciousness. Drawing on influences ranging from ’90s reggae and R&B to the enduring legacy of the Marley family, his songwriting explores themes of love, unity, and the fight against global injustice. Since launching his career in 2019, Yung Lion has released fan favorites such as “LION UP,” performed alongside prominent artists in major cities, and steadily grown his streaming presence. With new material on the horizon and a reputation for electrifying live shows, Yung Lion is poised to leave an indelible mark on the global reggae scene.
